  • Public Announcements
  • Thanks to the host Ma Thin Wit Yee and Ko Dave Maung. We had a delicious Mee Shay for our formal farewell party for BYA member Ma Ah Chan. Ma Ah Chan has been very active in helping Burmese Community working with all the organizations in Bay Area while she was here. Now she went back to Thailand last week to work for NGO organization. In the meeting, Ma Ah Chan talked about how we can still keep in touch with her and work together for our community. Also Ma Ah Chan encouraged BYA members to come and volunteer in Thailand to see the organization she is working for. She will be truly missed by all BYA members. We wish her good luck.

  • Chin National Day
  • We talked about Chin National Day event that took placed on February 19, 2011 in Oakland. BYA performed at Chin National Day Event. Please see the email that was sent by Ko Wai Phyo on February 28, 2011 for details and pictures.

  • 501(c)3 Update
  • Ma Thin Wit Yee updated all BYA Board members with 501(c)3 Status. She suggested BYA needs to come out with solid programs and budget outlines in order to get approved from Federal and States government. Therefore, on March 12, 2011, all BYA board members will be meeting for a separate meeting for program development.

  • YEP updates
  • BYA has been involved in Youth Education Program (YEP) in Oakland. Under the leadership of BYA’s Education and Humanitarian Chair : Ko Zarni Tun, it was resumed on February 12, 2011 Satruday. There were about 20 students. Other community leaders in Oakland and Ko Zarni Min Lwin from BYA volunteered at the meeting.

  • BYA DVD – Process, Finalize, and Cost to Manufacture
  • Myanmar Community Center Fundraising event’s DVDs are now ready to public with the professional help of Rick Heizman. We discussed about the cost of production of DVDs, where we can get the needed fund for production, whether we should give them out free of charge to all the volunteers since the production cost is high and we do not have the ability to give out free for many volunteers and performers. For now, the production The DVD should be coming out soon. So still tune if you are the performers. Your performance in B(M)CCFR will be showed to the world very soon.

    Adjournment

    Around 10:00 pm, BYA meeting was adjourned. Afterward, BYAers who performed at Chin National Day practiced the song until midnight. We had fun and productive meeting after all thanks to Ko Kyaw Kyaw Soe, Ma Su Wai and Rick Heizman for bring Guitars to practice song. Thanks to the host: Ko Dave Maung and Ma Thin Wit Yee.
