Asian Woman Shelter would like to give a presentation to Burmese community about their program and benefits. This program helps women facing domestic violence and provides shelters for women. Meeting will be on February 4, 2011 from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm at 1555 21st Ave, San Francisco. Dinner will be provided and please RSVP by February 1, 2011 if you will be able to attend.
BYA BOD has voted to hold election annually. This year election is moved to August from February to allow enough time to recruit new members and potential officers.
Unfortunately, BYA was not able to participate at the event and only Rick Heizman and Ma Su Wai were able to attend the event. However, BYA was able to make a contribution of $110.00 for the fund raising that was donated by BYA BODs and members.
Ma Thin Wit Yee would organize all the paperwork for the application. Requested event descriptions are to be provided by Ko Wai Phyo and Ko Kyaw Kyaw Soe on January 25, 2011. Ma Thin Wit Yee, Ko Wai Phyo, Ko Kyaw Min Oo, and Ko Zarni Tun will then meet with the lawyer on January 27, 2011. If everything looks fine, BYA will proceed with the process of applying for 501(c)3.
It has not been confirmed yet when the event will be. The plan originally was to hold the event in March, but will probably be moved to June because of time constraint. Ko Kyaw Min Oo will send out email to planning committee members for next meeting.
The plan is to reconstruct the structure of the program so that all the three important groups of people: students, teachers, and parents will actively participate in the program for the benefits of students. The idea is to have a few committed core group members (not volunteers) to design the curriculum. These individuals will be responsible for planning activities for students each week. People who are interested in becoming part of the core group should attend meeting on 2.5.2011 at 2:00 pm in Oakland.
As election is postponed to August, By-law has been amended. The BOD # is no longer fixed at 11, but will be 9 -13 as voted by all the attendees of 41st meeting. And congratulation to the youngest newly voted BOD member, Ko Kyaw Lin Htat.
Next meeting will be on 2.12.2011 in 6189 Marguerite Dr., Newark, CA 95560
